Hartland Public School/Hartland High School
The original part of the Hartland School is believed to have been built in the
1860’s. In June, 1897, the school board approved plans to “remove the partition in the lower story to erect an addition.” The 20 by 30 ft. addition was placed on the east side of the building. When it
was completed, the board also agreed to have the school “thoroughly cleaned and to purchase new curtains for the windows.”
In August, 1906, the school board purchased additional lots adjoining the school
to the west for further expansion. By 1910, a second addition was completed,
and the older sections of the school were remodeled extensively. The school
served Hartland until the 1960’s when the building was demolished.
Currently there is an apartment building where the former school stands, as seen
to the right.
