Hartland High School

Discussion began in 1916 to consider the possibility of creating a union high school district incorporating Nashotah, Hartland, Campbell, Lakeside and Swallow schools. Plans were approved in 1922, and by 1924, students began attending an elborate new school on this four acre lot at the end of church street.

The first floor boasted a gymnasium/auditorium that seated 400, dressing rooms, lavatories and two large recitation rooms (classrooms). On the second floor there was a study room for 150 people, a library, cloak rooms and five more recitation rooms.

Hartland High School served upper grade students until 1957, when Arrowhead High School opened. Hartland Elementary School then moved its students into the former high school. Additions were put on the building in 1957, 1963 and 1987. The original high school, which stood on the south entrace of the building, was torn down in 2001 and replaced with a new elementary addition in 2002.
