110 Cottonwood / The Commerical Hotel / Preston’s / Max Meier’s Hartland Inn
The Commercial Hotel was built by Charles Hasslinger in 1907. Hasslinger sold
the hotel in 1911 to the Pabst Brewing Company. Charles’ brother, Jacob, once operated the hotel for Pabst and continued in the position
when his brother bought the business back in 1922. The hotel was raided in
1923, and arrest were made for possessionl of illegal liquor. Charles sold the
hotel again that same year. In 1936, the owners closed down the hotel, but
continued to operate the restaurant. For many years the restaurant was know as
Preston’s and since 1967, it has been known as Max Meier’s Hartland Inn.
