551 E. Capitol Drive / August and Sarah Schraudenbach House
The two-and-one-half story house features a fieldstone chimney and a wide
one-story porch with a fieldstone foundation and simple posts on each of the
main and east facades. A gable with a set of triple windows forming a stylized
Serlian motif accents the hipped roof on both the main and east facades.
The home was built in 1907 by Sarah Schraudenbach. Features inside the house
include leaded windows in the living room and ornate carved ceiling moldings.
Original maple floors and light fixtures are still found throughout the home.
The interior staircase originally split and went up on both sides but was
closed off on one side during remodeling to make room for an additional bedroom
upstairs.
