235 E. Capitol Drive / Stephen Warren House
This house, built in the early 1850’s for Hartland’s founding father, Stephen Warren, stands on the north boundary of the original
Warren acreage. The farm at that time consisted of 165 acres located south of
the Delafield town line between current day Maple and Cottonwood Avenues.
The two-story, cream brick house has an asphalt shingled hipped roof and is set on a stone foundation. Brick pilasters support a wooden entablature and multi-paned windows with stone lintel. The house retains good exterior integrity and represents the best preserved vernacular Greek Revival residence in the Village. The style was prevalent in Hartland’s early history.
