221 E. Capitol Drive / Hartland Masonic Lodge
The first meeting of the Bark River Masonic Lodge #122 was held in October,
1859. After renting quarters for over 50 years, members decided to build a
temple in 1913. The 36 x 54 foot, two-story structure contained a reception
room, banquet hall and kitchen on teh first floor and a lodge roomon the second
floor. A time capsule was placed in the cornerstone during construction.
In 1960, the lodge celebrated it centennial and decided to renovate teh
building, a project that was complted in 1963. A new cornerstone was laid which
included the 1913 capsule as well as the additional new material.
The Hartland Masonic Lodge building was sold in July 2002 to the Lake Country
Players upon the consolidation of the Hartland Masonic Lodge in Oconomowoc. The
time capsule was opened again at that time.
