Although the congregation was organized in 1842, the First Congregational Church of Warren (the name of the township at that time) was not built until 1856.  The church was closed for enlargement and renovation in 1898 when an extension was added to the front of the building, and the altor was moved from the rear of the church to the front.

In 1924, the building was razed to make way for a new church. A one-story rectangular brown brick, multi-gabled building on a stone foundation was built in its place. It boasted a brick tower with a crenellated parapet rising from the southeast corner of the building. Double doors set in a round arch form what was once the main entrace to the building.

The structure features lancet and tracery windows with leaded glass and is a good interpretation of te Gothic Revival style. The first addition was put on the rear of the building in 1953, and a second addition was compled on the west end of the building in 1986.
