When the Hornburgs came to Hartland in July, 1922, they purchased the Ford
dealership that had been run for years by B. G. Schneider & Son. Because of increased business, the dealership was enlarged in 1924 from
its original 30 x 50 ft. size. The addition extended 120 feet north from the street toward the river and was 55
ft. in width. The new addition added a lower level which later became the
repair shop. Cars were driven through the large double doors and down the ramp
to the basement. Evidence of the ramp still exists on the eastern-most part of
the building. The original structure still stands and is incorporated into the
center of the building. Other rennovations included the absorption of the
Victor Theater to the west. The Hornburgs contined their Ford dealership in
this building until 1987, when the business was sold.
