115-119-121 E. Capitol Drive / Peter Madson Block
Planks for the Watertown Plank Road were cut here after Stephen Warren built his
saw mill on this site. The building was subsequently used as a match factory,
barbershop, cider mill and the harness shop of Daniel Warner before it was sold
to Peter Madson in 1899. Madson tore down the original building to make way for
the Peter Madson Block, built in 1903. The two-story structure incorporated
commercial and residential space. in later years, it was also known as the
Staus Building.
